Univ. of Oregon Track Camp

There is still time to sign up for the U of O's summer camp that runs June 30th- July 3rd. Lance Deal and Cari Soong will help to coach the throwing events and instruction in the hammer will be offered!

Building a Cage for the Hammer on a Limited Budget

1. Fund raise
   
2. See if you can get poles donated by a local utility company. The front poles need to be 20+ feet tall and the back poles should be about 15+ feet. You really can't make them too tall.
3. See if you can get a used net that could be cut down to size.
4. An old logging cable that is 100+ feet works great to hang the net.
5. See if you can bargain on the price of the concrete.

Oregon All-Comer's Meet

The Oregon Track Club hosts a number of summer All-Comer Meets at Hayward Field.

This year the dates will be: Thursdays July 8, 15, 22, 29, Aug 5

Hammer will be contested the 2nd and 4th weeks only! The cost is $3. For more info check out their webpage

Oregon High School Throws

Hi,
My name is Cari. I used to throw the hammer for UCLA and then Team XO. Currently I coach the throws at Crow High School in Eugene, Oregon. Starting this blog is a dream of mine to promote the event I love in a state that I love. Oregon has a rich history in track and field, especially in throwing events. One of the greatest hammer throwers ever, Lance Deal, is a resident of the state. The hammer throw is not an endorsed event in the OSAA however that doesn't keep it from being thrown by high school students.

This site will be a resource for any high school students or coaches who are looking to learn more about throwing hammer, to find meets in the area, to find coaching, to view videos of hammer throwing, and to see current state lists.
